DeWayne Walker is the target for Washington. Huskies’ coach Tyrone Willingham covets the Bruins’ defensive coordinator, wants to hire him to replace the fired Kent Baer.
The uncertain status of Willingham at Washington - he likely will enter the 2008 season needing to win a lot of football games to retain his job - is an issue. But it could be solved by giving Walker a multi-year deal. That is what the Huskies are trying to do to lure him to Seattle.
After meeting on Wednesday, Willingham is believed to have offered Walker a two-year contract at money at least equal to what he is making at UCLA.
